Wrapped Up the Semester, Just Need Some Tape

Well, its the begining of the end, and there is still lots of work to be done. I feel like I have wrapped up any assignments that may pose a threat in my classes, but I need to tape up the corners so it doesn't fall apart when grades come out. Of course, this tape comes in the form of the finals. I like this metaphor, partly because I just came up with it, but mostly because it applies. You can spend all the time you want wrapping your gift, but without a good tape job at the end, it doesn't mean anything. Also, location is a big factor. If you have great tape, but don't apply it to the right areas, you will still find yourself in a hole. Figure out what finals you need to accel in, and study!

trying to wrap up the semester

Well i was looking at someone else's schedule when i realized this semester is quickly coming to a hault. Sure, there are a few weeks left, but by the time you factor in thanksgiving break, there truely isn't much time left. With that, if grades need to be met, better start kicking in the over-time now.

Research Paper Process

This paper is kicking my ass so far. I struggled to get about 500 words on my rough draft and only implimented one source. I think once I sit down and really focus on the task I'll be ok, but this weekend was one for the books and I have a lot of things going on this week in other classes. Also, looking for new sources may help my cause.

halloweekend

I think actually being scared on halloween is a dying art, especially for college students who are just looking to have a good time. Scary movies are a great way to set the tone, my personal favorites are Rob Zombie's Halloween, Strangers, and Paranormal Activity. Which ones freak you out?

Group Research Progress

So far our group work has been very productive. Early on we established who is researching what, and we agreed on how we would structure our paper. The hardest part was probably actually chosing a topic, Katie and I wanted to do it over aliens, but Carlye is a party pooper. Owell, the issue of public smoking is a very interesting and controversial topic, and we hope to suade the general public that it is wrong.

Why thursday?

I don't get it...why do students chose thursday to be their "drinking" night? Is it because it's an early start to the weekend? or do they just feel obligated to do what others do. Seems like most quizes/test are on fridays, so why thursday night? Why not tuesday or wednesday? I mean you still have class in the morning? whatever.

Going Places

Is it just me or is everyone going somewhere every weekend? Whether they are going home or going to a different university, I'm finding that every weekend an abundance of students are fleeing campus. I'll admit it, I'm guilty of it too. I was obligated to go home a couple weekends, and i chose to go to IU a few weeks ago. So why is it that Ball State seems like a ghost town most weekends? It is in great "roadtrip" driving distance  for both IU and Purdue, which are much larger and widely considered more "fun". Because Ball State lies in these shadows, students are more likely to chose to go home too, to see friends and family.
